A hat-trick from new Gala Fairydean Rovers captain Sean Paliczka saw the Netherdale side soar to a six-goal friendly win over East of Scotland team Duns.

However, there remains problems at the back for Stevie Noble’s men, as Gala let slip a three-goal lead to allow the Dingers to level the match before half-time.

Starting with former Selkirk player Jason Inglis as a trialist at the back, the match started well for Gala as Jamie Gibson combined with Paliczka, for the latter to slot home on 15 minutes.

Three minutes later, the former Selkirk pairing of Gibson and Inglis combined to force Ben Jackson of Duns into a handball, with Gibson converting from the penalty spot.

Former Bonnyrigg Rose man Paliczka then fired a shot high beyond Scott Lumsden for number three.

But as half-time approached, Gala’s defence leaked like a sieve. Aiden Lauder scored two in just three minutes and Jackson was bundled over by Craig McBride, Lauder claiming his own hat-trick from the spot. But Gala put in an improved second-half shift to seal the victory.

First Paliczka put in a cross on 49 minutes which was headed into the net by new signing Dean McColm.

Three minutes later, Paliczka completed his treble from the spot and Billy Miller added the sixth.
