When Hawick Royal Albert and Gala Fairydean Rovers lock horns in the second round of the Image Printers Cup at Albert Park tomorrow evening, both clubs will be well aware that the gap in leagues mean absolutely nothing, writes John Slorance.
Albert manager Graeme Chadwick told The Southern: “We are under no illusions that it will be an extremely hard game.
“Gala are on a decent run of form and have made some good signings. Saying that, our boys will be working hard and looking to cause what would definitely be seen as an upset.”
Hawick are hoping that skipper Michael McKenzie will be free of the ankle injury that has ruled him out of recent games.
Gala boss Steven Noble said: “I was very happy with our performance against Whitehill. Fraser Forrest made his debut and was very impressive. He helped the young players in the side – he was a big influence.
“Hawick may be in the First Division, but in no way will we be underestimating them.”
Kelso United host Eyemouth United at Woodside Park in the cup, Peebles Rovers tackle table-topping Hibs EOS in a league game at Whitestone Park, and Vale of Leithen head to Selkirk in th e Lowland League.
