Gala F’dean Rovers 1
Preston Athletic 1
With only one win in their last eight matches, Gala looked set for a welcome three points after going ahead two minutes into the game through Ross Aitchison’s free kick, writes Kenny Paterson.
But after losing defender Paul Hossack to concussion at half-time, Sean Martin’s fine strike pulled Preston level on 68 minutes.
There were chances at either end in the closing stages, with the best falling to David Bonnar. Darran Thomson’s cross evaded Preston stopper Craig Pennycuik, but the teenage midfielder somehow headed over from less than six yards.
Grant Robinson was sent off for a second yellow card with 10 minutes remaining, before a serious knee injury to Preston substitute Brian Foster saw referee Simon MacLean play 11 minutes of injury time.
In that extended additional period, Martin headed over and Gala sub Ashley Langford shot wide when played clean through by Sean Paliczka.
Gala boss Steve Noble said: “We were far better than the previous showing against Heriot-Watt University (lost 3-0). Even with 10 men I thought we were more likely to score a winner.”
