Hearts of Liddesdale 6
CFC Bowholm 2
BAL DIVISION B
FROM the kick-off, Hearts took control of this local derby at Newcastleton.
The visitors’ goal was bombarded with their keeper making a couple of good saves, and Hearts hitting the bar, post and having one cleared off the line.
In the 17th minute Hearts finally got the breakthrough when a crossfield ball from Barry Patterson found Andrew Ling on the edge of the penalty area who juggled the ball and volleyed home.
Hearts kept up the pressure, but only had the one goal to show for it at the interval.
Five minutes into the second half, Hearts doubled their lead when Luke Anderson latched onto a loose ball from a goalmouth scramble.
On the hour, Ling fired home from a Darren Armstrong corner before Bowholm pulled one back. A minute later, however, David Mallinson made it four for the hosts with Tom Miles and Darren Armstrong adding another two.
The visitors netted a second in stoppage time to complete the scoring.
