Following a run of three defeats in succession, Hawick Waverley returned to a winning way in toppling Ancrum 2-1 at Wilton Lodge Park last weekend.
Waverley dominated the first half but failed to cash in on the many scoring chances that fell their way. Despite having their backs against the wall, Ancrum scored a fine goal. In the second period Waverley continued to rule the roost and had something to show for their efforts. Declan Hogg grabbed two goals, his second being a real beauty when he beat the Ancrum keeper with a rasping drive.
Hawick United climbed to joint place in the Border Amateur ‘B’ division league table in gaining a 4-2 win over Langholm Legion at home.
At one time though a result like this looked beyond United as they were two goals down at the interval after having been given the run around by a good footballing Langholm side.
In the second half though United were to turn the tables through a revitalised show. Kevin Strathdee sparked matters off by pulling a goal back when sticking away a penalty before hitting an equaliser. United were now starting to take command and took the lead through a Daniel Bolton strike. More was to come from United however as Strathdee went on to complete his hat trick as well as the scoring.
Hawick Legion Rovers fell to a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Biggar United in an away clash.
After Biggar had opened the scoring with an early goal, Rovers were reduced to ten men when Alan Morrison was red carded. Michael Moir soon put Rovers level though in heading home a perfectly flighted Jordan Caldwell free kick. Biggar hit back to regain their two goal lead but Chay Caldwell soon put Rovers back in the picture in polishing off a great solo run with a well hit shot. Rovers began to push forward for an equaliser only to be sent reeling when Biggar scored twice.
