BEVERIDGE CUP QUARTER-FINAL

Shaun Hardie stepped off the bench to slot home the winner on a sunny afternoon at Netherdale.

Gala started the game strongly with some good link up play in the early stages and their dominant possession paid off in nine minutes when McDonald found Patterson 20 yards out.

Patterson picked up the ball and darted towards goal firing high into top left hand corner.

The visitors struggled to retain the ball for long spells in the game how ever some slack play in the home defence brought the leveller in 20 minutes.

The first half fizzled out all square when with five minutes to go Gala’s Benj Maxwell went to ground after a 50/50 challenge down the right. A full recovery is expected with just tissue damage sidelining him for a few weeks.

The second half started with a welcomed return to play for Hardie after almost two years on the injury list and, somehow, in the 65th minute he managed to squeeze a shot under the out coming keeper.

So 2-1 to the home side and a semi-final tie in the next round of the Beveridge Cup.
