A FIRST half double strike from Grant Ferguson helped steer United to victory in this all action derby clash.

Ferguson got the first of his twosome in the 14th minute when he rattled a shot into the net. And, within seven minutes he had did it all again when drilling home a Scott Storrie corner kick.

Two minutes later Legion pulled a goal back when a shot parried by United keeper John Paul Drysdale broke to the feet of Callum Hope who tucked away the rebound.

In the 39th minute United restored their two goal lead when Storrie stepped in to tuck away a free kick.

Legion began the second half strongly, reducing the leeway when Jody Easdon put away a Hope pass.

Legion pushed hard for an equaliser after this but United held out.
