A VETERAN’S match involving coaches and parents from Gala Fairydean Youth FC and Gala Dean JFC raised £131 for the Galashiels-based Reunite a Family charity.

A large Friday evening crowd at the 3G Arena saw the Youths edge home 2-1 with goals from Robert Fairburn and Scott Fraser, with Sean Johnston netting for Gala Dean.

Rhona McLeman of Re-Unite a Family, which is raising money to bring two children from Zimbabwe to Scotland to be re-united with their mother after 12 years, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to both teams and their supporters for the fantastic sum which was raised at the veteran’s match.

“It will make a huge difference to this family. Thanks again for your generosity.”

The charity has already reached its financial goal after raising more than £5,000 and is hosting a bumper 100-question quiz at the Kingsknowes Hotel in Galashiels on Friday evening which is a sell-out.
