SPARTANS-bound Chris Anderson was named Gala Fairydean’s players’ player of the year at the Netherdale club’s end-of-season presentation night on Saturday, writes Kenny Paterson.
Craig McBride enjoyed a double celebration as he picked up player of the year for both the senior team and under-19s.
And Paul Young picked up the Border Telegraph Player of the Year for his energetic performances in midfield throughout the campaign.
Following their debut season in the East of Scotland Youth League, the under-19s squad chose Dom Halley as their player’s player of the year, while Jack Hay was top goalscorer with 13.
Fairydean coach Garry Fraser said: “It was a great night and the award winners deserved their prizes. Overall, we have performed pretty well to finish fourth in the league with such a young squad.
“The under-19s also deserve credit for reaching a cup final in their first season in the Youth League.”
