Gala Fairydean Rovers manager Steven Noble says he is delighted to sign ex-Selkirk goalkeeper John Dodds ahead of the new club’s first game, writes Kenny Paterson.
Former East Fife stopper Dodds was widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the East of Scotland League before quitting Yarrow Park at the end of last season.
Speaking before Saturday’s friendly against Coldstream at Netherdale, Noble said: “John has great experience and is a massive signing for us.”
Ex-Bonnyrigg Rose striker Sean Paliczka has also joined the new club, while former Fairydean players Billy Miller and Grant Gass have signed on with Noble.
He added: “Billy and Grant are quality players and Sean was man-of-the-match in the East of Scotland final when Bonnyrigg beat Linlithgow 3-0.”
Selkirk host a Hearts side this Saturday to open their new Bob Mercer stand and are expecting a big crowd after promising to donate half the gate money to the financially-stricken Tynecastle club.
Hawick Royal Albert have also been told that Hearts will fulfil a friendly at Albert Park on Friday, July 12.
