Gala Fairydean Rovers Amateurs have secured the services of former Ancrum boss Grant Davidson, who will take the reins for the forthcoming season.

The 33-year-old joiner’s first move after being appointed was to fix up Des Sutherland – who banged in a record-breaking 73 goals in one season for Gala Rovers and was a key player in the club’s Lowland League side last campaign – as his assistant at Netherdale.

Davidson said: “I felt it was the next step for me. The facilities at Netherdale are superb and there is a great community spirit surrounding the club. I can’t wait to get the season started.”

Davidson, who is currently aiming towards getting his UEFA B-licence coaching badges at Largs, takes over from Kevin Matheson.
