Cup finals runneth over for local sides

There is a triple bill of cup finals on the Border Amateur football scene this weekend, writes John Slorance.

On Friday evening, Hawick Legion face Eyemouth Amateurs at Woodside Park in the final of the Walls Cup (6.30pm), the second time that the two sides have crossed swords in a final this season.

Eyemouth gained the honours in the last outing, edging out their Hawick rivals 2-1 with a last-minute goal to take the Wright Cup.

Hawick are without suspended pair Liam Lavery and Andrew McFarlane.

On Saturday, Gala Fairydean Rovers tangle with Hawick Waverley in the final of the Beveridge Cup at Lauder, with a 2pm kick-off.

Elliot Park, Jedburgh, is the setting for the Sanderson Cup final, featuring Duns Amateurs and Peebles Amateurs.

It’s an evening match with a 6.30pm start.

In the East of Scotland First Division, lowly Hawick Royal Albert entertain high-flying Peebles Rovers at Albert Park.

Kelso United are also at home, lining up against Heriot-Watt University at Woodside Park.
