Clubs warm up for cup ties, again

JACK FROST bit his way into the Borders football programme last weekend and as a result three cup ties were frozen off, writes John Slorance.

These postponed encounters will now take place on Saturday.

Selkirk take on Ormiston in the first round of the King Cup at Yarrow Park.

Under the guidance of recently appointed manager Steve Forrest, Selkirk have been showing improved form recently and will be at full strength for the match.

In another King Cup clash, Peebles Rovers are at home to Duns.

Vale of Leithen are without the suspended John Ferguson for their South of Scotland Challenge Cup clash with Kelso United at Victoria Park.

Gala Fairydean Rovers travel to tackle Dalbeattie Star in the Lowland League and, having won three games back to back, go into the match confident.

Manager Steven Noble said: “Dalbeattie beat us earlier in the season, but I thought we were unlucky not to have got something out of the game.”

Hawick Royal Albert are without banned twosome Paul Brown and Andy Williamson for their league battle with Easthouses Lily.
