TEN-MAN Chirnside secured a hard fought victory over fellow Division A title challengers Newtown on Saturday.

The opening goal came on the half-hour mark when teenager Ryan Wood, making his debut for Chirnside, nodded home a corner kick.

The hosts were reduced to 10 when Ryan Purves was red-carded for a second offence and Newtown made the extra man count, Matty Scott running in to equalise. With five minutes to go Jack Windram hit home the winner to put Chirnside in pole position.
