BSC GLASGOW3

GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS3

After racing into a commanding lead in the opening half of this Scottish Lowland League clash it was all Fairydean Rovers could do to keep a share of the spoils.

Broomhill fielded an unchanged side following last week’s win over Vale of Leithen. But any momentum from that victory was quashed as Gala took the lead within five minutes. Some good build up play in the middle of the park created space for Scott Main, and after Dean McColm played him in the full back fired under Derick Moore and into the net.

It took the hosts until half way through the first half to find an equaliser. Kyle Richford nipping through in front of the defence to knock past Mark Wilson in the Gala goal.

The visitors retook the lead before the half hour mark. Callum Jardine took a corner from the left, and a combination of BSC bodies couldn’t stop the ball from ending up in the back of the net directly from the cross.

Gala found their third five minutes later. A long clearing header fell to the feet of Stuart Noble and the striker fired powerfully in at the near post.

After the break the pressure was on however. An Aaron Connolly double completed a superb BSC Glasgow comeback, forcing a huge defensive effort from Gala just to ensure they returned to the Borders with points.
