There were goals galore on the Border Amateur scene on Saturday.

Aided by an amazing seven strikes from Ross Scott, Hawick United outgunned Chirnside United Colts 10-1 away from home. Five of Scott’s goals came in the second period – he’s now scored 13 in seven outings. Sean Owens was also on target for United, notching the other three – two of them from the penalty spot.

Hawick Legion Rovers toppled visitors Melrose 8-1 with another imperious individual Teri performance stealing the limelight. After Michael Moir had put Rovers ahead, Jamie Bertram grabbed an equaliser for Melrose. But Hawick pulled away thanks to six goals from Sean Clarke and one from Chay Caldwell.

Hawick Legion also tasted victory at home, beating Gala Hotspur 3-1. Cesar Bento put Legion ahead when drilling home the only goal of the first half. Following the changeover, Callum Hope and Jody Easdon added to their tally, before Hotspur reduced the leeway.

Gala Fairydean Rovers did their Division A title challenge no harm, beating Jed Legion 4-1. Ryan Clapperton opened the scoring midway through the first half. Almost immediately, Jed had the chance to level as Aaron Swailes was upended in the box, but Gary Hunter’s spot kick was saved. Sean Hardie made it two for Gala, before Daniel Gillie cut the deficit. Rovers finished on a high, with Des Sutherland and Liam Wallace scoring for the home side.
