Burntisland Shipyard3

Hawick Royal Albert0

Royal Albert dominated the early part of the game and were unfortunate not to open the scoring when a Michael Smith shot appeared to have crossed the goal line after rebounding off the bar.

The referee, however, thought otherwise.

Minutes later Smith was out of luck again in having a shot cleared off the line.

Following this Burntisland had their first attack of the match which ended in a penalty from which Shaun Keatings scored. Albert began to take the initiative again, but it was Burntisland who grabbed a second through Brendan Napier before half-time.

The home side then sealed victory when Pete Bell netted their third goal.

Hawick coach Alan McKenzie said of the game: “When you hear or read the score you would think we had been well beaten.

“That wasn’t the case, however, as although having nothing to show for it, we were the better team for most of the game.”
