Chance for clubs to grab some of the action

Sports Clubs are being invited to promote their organisations at the first Regional Festival of Sport event, which will run from June 6-19.

Scottish Borders Council, Activity, Edinburgh Leisure, City of Edinburgh Council, ClubSportEdinburgh, East Lothian Council, Midlothian Council and West Lothian Council and are working in partnership with sportscotland to promote this event and would like to offer clubs (both senior and junior) the opportunity to promote their coaching programmes and/or run their own mini tournament/festival that could be included in the overall festival.

Ways your club could get involved include:

•Opening up a normal coaching session to the public

•Including an event or game you already have planned during this period

•Organising your own mini festival/event and inviting other clubs to participate

•Having a club open day

Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Community Learning Councillor Graham Garvie said: “This is potentially a great opportunity for clubs and organisations to recruit new members and volunteers. It is especially important at this time of the examination of sports facilities throughout the Borders to meet 21st century sporting and community needs - that as many sports bodies, clubs and individuals as possible take part in this festival.”

The Border-wide festival will be marketed with posters, fliers, leaflets and also a web-based approach.

If your club wants to be involved please contact Graeme Murdoch, Assistant Active Schools Manager, Scottish Borders Council, Tel: 01896 759579, email: gmurdoch@scotborders.gov.uk, closing date for submission of information is Monday, February 7.
