CURRENT British Junior of the Year, Douglas Tullie of Roxburgh Reivers Orienteering Club, has booked his seat on the plane to the 2008 Junior World Championships after a magnificent victory in this year's Future Champions Cup held over the weekend.
Douglas had a unique dead heat with his elder brother two years ago in the same competition, but this year he was a clear winner by eight minutes at the event held in North Yorkshire.

The win gave him automatic selection for the championships to be held in Sweden in early July.

The weekend competition was also a training trip for the Scottish junior squad and the club had three members competing.

Jedburgh's Kirstin Maxwell had two solid runs, finishing fourth on both days, Sarah Tullie was fifth and 18th, while Karen Maxwell was seventh and 11th in her first year of W14.

The next club event takes place at Selkirk Hill on Wednesday, May 14.

Competitors are to meet at the Argus Centre next to Selkirk High School any time between 5pm and 6.30pm. Instruction and help will be available for newcomers.

They're a good idea and I always have a look
So far so good but I'd like to see more in terms of numbers and variety
I never watch them
