WHILE some Ettrick Forest Archers took to the Thirladean practice field on Sunday ahead of this weekend's club target competition, a handful travelled up to Mugdock Park near Glasgow to take part in the Green Hollow Bowmen's Open Clout.
Green Hollow's Hugh McBrien took top slot with 95, and Selkirk's Mike Pearson and Doug Anderson shot well to take second and third places, Anderson recovering well from a poor first round to win the bronze medal.

Also competing were locals Alan Li
ndsay - last week's Silver Arrow winner - and Frank Brown.

Pearson's wife Elaine was also on form, winning the second round medal in the ladies' competition. Highland's Barbara Campbell took the top prize, while Lockerbie's Betty White had the best score in the first round.

Anderson and Elaine Pearson were in the best ends shoot-off, but these were won by Campbell and Fede Valls.

Ettrick Forest Archers results: Mike Pearson: first round 12 hits-25 score-0 clouts, second round 17-40-0, double round 29-65-0; Doug Anderson 8-19-0, 16-45-1, 24-64-1; Alan Lindsay 5-12-0,11-29-1,16-41-1; Frank Brown 8-17-0,4-6-0,12-23-0; Elaine Pearson 21-55-1,21-56-0,42-111-1.

This weekend, the travellers head to Armaddy Castle in Oban for a target shoot, while some take in a fun shoot at Leitholm, before heading back to Thirladean for the target competition, in the form of a Western round.
