A TOUCH of amnesia, or absence on the part of Roxburgh, gave Earlston a leg-up in Section Two of the Croall Bryson Border League last week.
The walkover hoisted the Rhymers to third spot, while a high-scoring tussle between Greenlaw and Lauderdale went to 11-10 in the former's favour and, being their first win, lifted them from 10th to seventh spot.

In Section One, Selkirk just beat B
order Wheelchair 8-6 to move into second spot. Glendale turned the heat on Foulden at 13-5, lifting them to third in the table and dropping their opponents to third from the bottom.

There were no Croall Bryson Border League games this week as evening curling is given over to the long-standing Matthew Templeton Trophy, a mixed open contest with good support this season.

A useful Border contingent headed to Kinross on Thursday to join with Lothian curlers in the Hope Hunter Competition between Sheep breeders south of the Forth and sheep feeders from North.

A southern surplus of players saw a few of them seconded to North rinks. South won fairly well with Harry Dodds, Robert Forsyth, Michael and Andrew Ker heading the winning list.

Andrew Pate received a special award for having played in the competition for at least 45 years. A full house gathered for the Great Annual President's Invitation Bonspiel on Saturday evening, with four fairly close games, so close that the final result was decided on drawn stones, with Jim Wood's rink taking the honours.

As ever, the winners received fine prizes of curling stone replicas manufactured by Alan Watt, who also curled quite well on the night.

An amendment must be made to last week's report on the Border-East Lothian provincial session – no charity is involved, the price being The Chanty.

Section One: Glendale 13, Foulden 5; Selkirk 8, Wheelchair 6.
