Peebles were simply outshone by Star, who picked up their first win of the season.

Scott Milligan opened Dalbeattie's account in the third minute.

Then Colin Jack buried a spot kick to equalise at the second attempt after Peter Shearlaw was fouled in the box.

However, Star scored four more before the break for a 5-1 interval lead – John McBeth and Lewis Sloan both got on the scoresheet before Milligan's quickfire double gave him his hat-trick.

Two goals from Gary Redpath and another from Sloan came after the break, while Peebles took scant consolation from Shearlaw's strike three minutes from time as the Star defence were lulled into making an error.

The season just keeps on getting worse for the Whitestone Park youngsters.
