A hat-trick from former Gretna and Livingston ace David Bingham helped steer Tynecastle to victory.

Showing improved form from past outings, Hawick drew first blood with Andrew Hamilton beating the Tyne
castle keeper with a powerful header on meeting a headed lay-off from Steven Noble.

The Albert’s joy was shortlived, for six minutes later Bingham notched the first of his threesome.

Before Royalists could recover Bingham got his name on the scoresheet again and, with quarter of an hour gone, he completed his hat-trick.

Following the interval McCormack put the Albert into further arrears from a Cherrie corner kick.

After Devlin had added another for the homesters Hawick new boy Michael Robinson from Berwick United pulled a goal back.

Spurred on by this, Royalists soon did the business again when Noble converted a penalty.

Hamilton followed this up with a fourth for battling Albert.

Royal Albert: S. Walker, S. Wright, A. Campbell, D. Stavert, L. Beveridge (D. Urey), D. Knox, S. Noble, G. Watson, A. Hamilton, M. Robinson, J. Falconer (G. Knox).
