A contingent of Southern Upland Roving Archers (SURA), acquitted themselves well at the fourth World Wand Championships held at Raby Castle.
No medals were won, but John Riva took the cash pot during the interval before the main competition was held in the afternoon.

Most of the SURA team achieved hits on the wand (a 4-inch wide target at 50yds) throughout the day.

Mick and Mandy Cowen, founders of SURA, who have shot in this competition for the past two years, were extremely proud of the new archers.

SURA now has a strong membership of competent archers and is actively recruiting.
