HAWICK darts star Linda Marshall has captured the Women's Scottish Singles crown.
Marshall, who plays for the Drumlanrig Bar in the Hawick league and Kelso in the Superleague, was victorious in the national event, which was played in Bannockburn Miners Welfare Club.

She took the title after beating Sharon McKinnon 3-2 in the final. Marhsall also won her semi-final and quarter-final matches by the same score.

She is currently ranked number two in Scotland and earlier this month was capped against both England and Wales. In total, the Borders had five men and four women qualify for the national event.

The Kelso club had even more to celebrate when their ladies' team won the 2008 Superleague, while Kelso A also lifted the men's title.

This year's Superleague singles and doubles were held in Kelso's Royal British Legion. The men's singles was won by Alan Walker and the doubles by Richard Lackenby and Davie McLeod.

The women's singles was won by Irene Hogarth and the doubles by Irene Hogarth and Marshall.

The Scottish Masters qualifier is being held in the same venue this Sunday and players should arrive at 12.30pm for a 1pm start. Entry fee is £5 on the day.

The finals are on Saturday, June 21, at Bannockburn.

The inter-county dart season has come to an end and overall; the Borders had a good season.

In the South of Scotland League, the Men's A team finished fifth out of eight, the Ladies' A team third, Men's B first and Ladies' B second.
