Kelso 4 Duns 2
Under-17s

CREDIT to the Kelso lads, who took an hour to clear snow from the pitch and got their dues in three points which they earned twice over in a gritty display.

Michael Ledgerwood broke the deadlock after a through-ball from Ewan Whittle
saw him cut across the Duns keeper and score in the corner. Both teams had chances and despite great Jamie Hogarth’s great effort, the score remained 1-0 at half-time.

A more eventful second half saw Kelso pivot Andrew Oldham off the park for treatment. Duns took advantage to drive on, leaving keeper Shawn Baillie with little chance to stop the equaliser.

Cue much midfield work by both sides, but it was the hosts who profited as further goals from Oldham, Niall McGurn and Thomas Rothwell sealed the win.

Eyemouth 3 Kelso 6

Under-14s

KELSO took early control of the game with two quick goals from Ally Johnston and Liam Tait.

With captain Jim Harding and his fellow defenders keeping Eyemouth at bay, Tait controlled the midfield and Eyemouth struggled to contain the power and strength of Johnston and Duncan Rennie up front. Kelso went further ahead with goals from Johnston, Tait, Rennie and Dale Cockburn and, with a little bit more composure should have scored more. Eyemouth scored three goals late on to make the score more respectable.

Innerleithen 5 Kelso 8

Under-11s

AN ICY Saturday morning in Innerleithen saw Kelso Under-11s involved in a thrilling match.

A competitive start saw deadlock for most of the first quarter until Kelso went ahead with two goals in quick succession from Murray Rose. Kelso piled on the pressure in the next quarter with Gavin Dixon and Jack Phillips adding two more.

Innerleithen defended well and were never out of the match and looked particularly dangerous on the break. After a display of Maradona-style skill, Dixon narrowly missed the target with a fiercely struck volley, but the visitors went 5-0 up with a goal from Kyle Blakey. The hosts got their game together in the third and fourth quarters and pulled back with goals from Ross Swinton and Ross Campbell. Kelso finished strongly with Murray Rose and Dixon making their hat-tricks. The home side were far from embarrassed in a close match with a nail-biting finish.

Gala Dean 5 Kelso 5

Under-10s

BOTH teams played some good attacking football on a tight pitch with a heavy surface.

Kelso led 3-2 at the first interval with goals from Liam Herdman, Grant Rose and Kieran Fleming, while Gala Dean’s Amber was causing problems for the Kelso defence with her direct running and shooting.

There was only one goal in a tight middle third with Gala drawing level for a third time. Worse was to come for Kelso in the final third as Gala took the lead for the first time, before going 5-3 up.
