Kelso 22
PREMIER TWO AND BORDER LEAGUE
KELSO spoiled Haddington's debut day in the BSPC Border League by recording a fine away victory.
The game counted as a double header with points in Premier Two also at stake. The Tweedsiders took an ear
ly lead with two penalties by their captain, Kevin Utterson.
This was followed by a great solo try by Mee Kaa Eel Hartley, after he charged down a Haddington kick.
Utterson converted the score.
Haddington scored all of their point in the first half with two penalties and an unconverted try to give Kelso a 13-11 lead at half-time.
The only scores in the second half were three penalties by Utterson, taking the visitors to a 22-11 win.
Kelso seem to have overcome the defensive problems they encountered earlier in the season and this has helped them to their third victory in four league matches.
As a result, it has moved them up the league table and they are now well-clear of the relegation zone, close to the mid-table pack of teams.
Having a more settled team, especially in the front five of the scrum, has also helped their cause, but consistency is, as always, key.
