At A recent grading by Master Peter Harkess (8th degree black-belt) Galashiels Taekwon-Do students achieved high marks and succeeded in their promotion to new grades.
Gradings are gained by showing proficiency in basic techniques in hand and foot strikes, patterns (Tul in Korean), control of moves and sparring.
Well done to the students (all pictured) who were promoted as follows: Michael Birtwistle advanced to 2nd Kup ( red belt), Jack Stewart, Hamish Whelan and Fraser Graham advanced to 4th Kup (blue belt), Billy Davenport and Colin Graham to 8th Kup (yellow belt), Stuart Farrell and Charlotte Mythen to 9th Kup (yellow tags). Master Harkess said the standard of the students was very high.
Also pictured are Vince and Louise Summers – first degree black-belts – and two students from Dunbar who also graded.
