THE Stark Stormers won the Yara competition at Perth – James' partners in this effort were Stuart Craig, Andrew Reed and Alistair Hodge.
Other Border reivers were the three senior rinks who travelled to Murrayfield to do battle with the Crerar Seniors – and for the first time completed a clean sweep against the home rinks in three entertaining games.

The following day four hastily-
assembled entries took part in a Waldie-Griffiths round against West Lothian province. This went against the Borderers, due to the opposition’s inability to field four complete rinks. The numerically-challenged Lothian rink were well beaten, but the game was null and void, and the remaining matches went in Lothian’s favour.

Last week’s round in the Border League saw only a solitary section one game played – and a cracking encounter it proved to be with Kelso and Duns trading shots and ends all the way. The score was 9-7 in the Dingers’ favour.

In section two, St Boswells overwhelmed Teviotdale 15-2 and a bottom-end tussle resulted in Lammermuir triumphing 12-3 against Lees.

Club bonspiel results saw Frank Forrest’s rink win the Ayton Castle event, while the entry of Andrew Reed emerged victorious at Foulden, despite of losing a five in the first end. Ian Walkenshaw was involved in a road accident on his way to this event, but was uninjured.

The open pairs competition was won by ‘Starsky’ Dudgeon and Costar ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson.
