Have your say

I am writing to ask if any of your readers would be able to help us find some relatives we lost contact with a numbers of years ago.

My husband and I are coming to Scotland on holiday, and would love to make contact again. They may not even know we exist!

The surname is Beckingham. Bert Beckingham was the brother of my maternal grandmother; he and his wife, Jean, used to visit us in Petersfield, Hampshire, once a year in the 1940s. Their home was in the country outside Melrose.

My grandmother was Mary Ellen, born May 7, 1881, so Bert would have been born in the same decade. She became Mary Berriman in 1905, and they always lived in the south of England.

Bert and Jean had a son, as far as I am aware. His name was Bill, but could have been William He was a chemist in Kelso. I understand he died a few years ago.He was married to Betty, who, if still alive, would be in her 90s.

They had three children, Rosemary, Caroline and Derek. I presume they would be in their 60s or 70s now. I am in my 70s, so we could all be similar age.

We plan to be in your area sometime between June 25 and 28. Someone might be able to help us and get in touch by then.
