I have no wish to see a state-owned or controlled media. Neither do I agree with the despicable behaviour of some journalists, such as the phone hackers.
However, the politicians’ expenses scandal would never have come to light but for investigative journalism.
I suggest that the political crocodile tears and resentment over actions of certain sections of the press is only to distract from their own sullied reputation – and I include Prime Minister David Cameron and the BBC.
During the Second World War Auntie Beeb was respected for its reliability and accurate reporting. This is no longer true and I see no good reason for the British taxpayer to fund its politically-biased reporting.
If it is to continue to exist then it should be controlled on a non-political basis, reporting only certified facts.
