Part-time working

Following the resignation of SBC councillor Nathaniel Buckingham because he couldn’t balance his local authority commitments with his career and home life, ex-SBC councillor Kenneth Gunn called for the electorate to get rid of part-time councillors (letters, July 18).

If you go to the SBC website, in the Freedom of Information section, Request 5777, in reply to an inquiry, it states that after election in early May 2007, Mr Gunn remained working for the former Careline call centre for six months until early November 2007 while picking up a councillor’s salary.

It’s obvious that former councillor Gunn didn’t hold his current anti part-time councillors views in 2007 – either that or he is a hypocrite, with one rule for him and another for others.
