I would like to clarify some points in last week’s article “MSPs promise to raise depression care with ministers”.
The SMS texting service mentioned by the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Network would be for all deaf and hard of hearing people in the Borders, not just DHHN members. All the MSPs agreed with the DHHN motion that this should be looked at nationally.
The suggestion of a petition was raised by Christine Grahame MSP. At present, no petition has been planned, as it is hoped that the matter can be resolved by pressure from the MSPs.
The DHHN has been campaigning for this service since 2009, with the help of the previous MSP, Jeremy Purvis. This issue was also raised again recently with NHS Borders.
