Achievements by the young have been celebrated by Selkirk Rotary Club during September.

The month is designated by Rotary to youth service and, in honour of this, the club’s Youth Leadership Award participant, Darren Knox, was invited to receive his group photograph, taken at a week-long course at the Abernethy Trust hostel near Killin, and his achievement certificate.

Another young person returning to the club was ambassadorial scholar Alanna Ford. Alanna, who hails from Georgia, USA, has been on an educational scholarship placement studying an MSc in business studies at Edinburgh University, thanks to Rotary Foundation.

Having visited the club early in her study year, she asked to return to update members on her activities. including setting up a sandwich delivery business in the capital with three fellow students.

Alanna was thanked on behalf of the club by Rotarian Alan Hall.
