The FACE Christmas fair was held at the Western General Hospital on December 4.
Unfortunately, due to adverse weather, many of our friends from the Borders could not make it to help, but had kindly sold raffle tickets and handed in donations.
While the final total is not yet known, we know that £6,000 was raised on the day which is a great result given the weather conditions.
We have many friends in the Borders and value their ongoing support – whether helping at FACE fundraising events or fundraising locally in many different ways.
I want to commend and thank the carers who have battled through the snow to help people, the elderly and handicapped, four times a day.
They are mostly ladies, of all ages, young to quite mature, coming first thing in the morning and through the day, with their last call at 8.30-9pm, and then they struggle in the dark through the snow to get home. They are doing a wonderful job.
