UPDATE: Police confirm identity of victim in fatal collision
At around 9.50pm on Sunday, May 22, a 26-year-old man sustained fatal injuries when the blue Audi S3 he was driving collided with a tree on the A721.
The vehicle had been travelling on the eastbound carriageway having come from the A702 West Linton.

Hide AdEmergency services were called to the scene and paramedics transferred the man to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medics he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and want to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area around the time of this incident.
In particular, they want to speak with anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the collision travelling in close proximity with a black BMW.

Hide AdSergeant Neil Inglis of the Road Policing Unit based at Galashiels said: “Tragically this collision has resulted in the death of a young man.
“Our inquiries into this matter are continuing as we work toward establishing the full set of circumstances.
“I would encourage anyone who was travelling on the A702 or A721 at around 9.50pm or shortly beforehand on Sunday to contact us immediately if they witnessed either of these vehicles.
“In addition, anyone with information relevant to this inquiry should also get in touch.”
