Bikers hurt in crashes at Yarrow and Newcastleton

TWO MOTORCYCLISTS have been seriously injured in a crash in the Yarrow Valley about eight miles from Selkirk, writes Bob Burgess.

Their bikes collided nearside to nearside at Lynnfoot Bridge at Yarrow around 1.30pm on Sunday.

A 41-year-old man from Houghton Le Spring was riding a Kawasaki 1200cc bike while a 53-year-old man from Gorebridge was on board a second Kawasaki.

Both riders were taken to the Borders General Hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for four hours while police carried out an investigation.

Two hours earlier a motorcyclist lost control and crashed at Hews Bridge, Newcastleton.

The 49-year-old from Newcastle was taken by air ambulance to Dumfries Infirmary with broken bones and other injuries.

Police say no other vehicle was involved and the man’s injuries are not life threatening.
