THIEVES have escaped with an almost-new trailer after breaking into the compound of Benchmark Motors at Riverside Mill in Selkirk.
They cut the gate’s padlock and made off with an Ivor Williams LM166G twin-axle flatbed valued at around £2,780.
It was only three months old and had a lock on the ball hitch. Neither the hitch lock nor the compound’s padlock have been found.
The theft happened between February 9 and Saturday.
It’s not known if the theft is linked to the disappearance of a Williams trailer valued at £950 from the nearby Oregon Timber yard which was stolen overnight February 9-10.
