Libraries across the Scottish Borders are hosting a variety of special events to mark Book Week Scotland 2013.
Today (Thursday) Scottish Borders Council’s Reader in Residence Tom Murray hosts a Big Book Bash for families at Philiphaugh Community Centre Lounge between 10.30 and 11.30am, when he’ll mingle and discuss their stories and much-loved books.
Later in the day, Mr Murray will lead guests on The Treasure Train, a nostalgic journey of childhood through books, at Peebles Library in the Chambers Institute between 4 and 5pm.
It can be a memory of a favourite children’s book, or the first children’s book you ever read.
Scottish Borders Libraries will provide the materials: you need only bring your memories and imagination to board the Treasure Train.
Finally, tomorrow (Friday), pop in to Melrose Library and look out for Tom in the guise of Dr Who, handing out free books, and talking to people about their favourite books from 2.30-4.30pm.
All the events are free. Call 01750 726400 for more info.
