Thanks to all who played part in football festival

Can I say a big thank you from Scottish HART for all the help that was given to the Cameron Gunn Memorial Football Festival at Netherdale in Galashiels on June 3.

This was yet another triumph and a great success for Dougie Anderson, Drew and Mark, and the whole team at Borders Sports and Leisure Trust who, although the individuals had organised the event before, was a first for the trust and much appreciated.

To Graeme McIvor and the family who were also a well organised team, can I say a huge thank you, and to all the caterers, helpers, coaches and all who came along and played and enjoyed a marvellous afternoon of sport, a very special thanks.

Lastly, to all the mums, dads, aunties and all the rest of the family of Borderers can I say, well done.

We now have the biggest football festival of its kind in Scotland and there was close to 5,000 people in the Netherdale playing fields on June 3, with a total raised on the day through entry money, collecting tins and donations amounting to a huge £1,228.90.
