There will be no holiday lying on a beach for a group of friends from the Teviothead area this summer as they walk the West Highland Way in aid of charity.
The group who have called themselves the Teviothead Trekkers have been undertaking lots of walks in the Borders in order to get fit and already sponsorship is over the £1,000 mark.
All proceeds from their endeavours will be split between Motor Neurone Disease and Macmillan Cancer Support, and anyone wishing to support them can contact any of the group who has sponsor sheets or go online to www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/teviotheadtrekkers
The intrepid 10 are Pat Douglas, Gill Francombe, Ronnie, Julia and Katie Templeman, Sam Blyth, Caroline Tullie, Donald and Sandra Knox, and Fennella Pow.
John Tullie will be responsible for transporting the bags between each stop.
With all accommodation booked, the countdown to the walk starting on July 30 is under way and any tips on how to cope with the midges would be very welcome.
“Everyone has been really generous in sponsoring us,” said Caroline Tullie.
“The training walks have been such good fun that already we are saying we won’t stop walking after the West Highland Way.
“Hopefully people will continue to add to our sponsorship in the next couple of months. They can also follow our training on our Teviothead Trekkers blog online.”
