BORDERS-based band Tarras will help to open this year’s Denholm Folk Festival, ahead of a series of impressive dates next year, including the Cambridge Folk Festival.
The group released their latest album, Warn the Waters, in Ancrum in June. A single is expected to be released nationally from the album in January.
They return to the Borders on Friday, November 4, the first night of the Denholm festival and their last performance of 2011.
Tarras founding member Rob Armstrong said: “The response to the album has been amazing and we are now putting together 20 festival and tour dates for next year.
“We are really excited to be playing again in the Borders. It will be a big show with a big noise which everyone should enjoy.”
Talented young fiddler Eryn Rae will support Tarras, with entry £8 for the 10pm show.
Earlier on Friday, David Swann and Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby will entertain festival goers. All three will host workshops, for guitar, singing and songwriting respectively, on Saturday.
The evening concert is the Doonan Family Band, followed by an open mike session.
On Sunday, the concert in the church will round off the festival.
All weekend there will be sessions in the local bars and the village hall.
