BACK in 1996, Borders-based band Tarras took the folk world by storm when their debut album Rising was shortlisted for the Mercury Music prize.
In a long and varied career, which has seen several line-up changes, splits and world tours, the band has spent the last two years writing Warn the Waters after being signed to Topic Records who wanted Tarras to launch the album at this year’s Cambridge Folk Festival.
But, as founder member Rob Armstrong from Denholm revealed, the band has instead chosen to play their launch concert, plus support, in Ancrum village hall next Saturday, June 25, at 8pm.
“We want to support this most important of rural institutions...village halls supported us in the early days,” said Rob.
Tickets for the gig (£7.50) are available from the Ancrum Pantry or by calling 01835 830259.
