The Yetholm Sinfonia’s third concert of 2013 includes talented young soloists Katie Johnston of Coldstream and Glasgow-based Mark Wilson.
Cellist Katie will play Haydn’s first cello concerto. The former Berwickshire High pupil is currently studying music at Edinburgh University, where she has already been involved in a number of musical projects.
Katie has performed in many of the great venues of Britain, such as the Usher Hall in Edinburgh and London’s Royal Albert Hall, with national and local youth orchestras, and also has worked with many inspirational musicians – Evelyn Glennie and Gustavo Dudamel amongst them.
The second half of the concert will consist of Mozart’s glorious Haffner Serenade by violinist Mark, who for a time was the concert-master/leader of an orchestra in the wilds of Brazil.
The concert in Kelso Old Parish Church takes place on Saturday, June 15, and tickets (£8) are on sale in Hector Innes Photography in Kelso, Moffat’s Newsagent in Coldstream or phone 01573 420279.
