PEEBLEANS have until midnight tonight (Thursday) to vote for their town as Scotland’s best.
The Tweeddale settlement was nominated for the title of favourite village/town in the Scottish Civic Pride Awards, with the winner to be announced tomorrow night in Glasgow.
Marion Anderson of the Bonnie Peebles group said: “Personally I believe that Peebles deserves to win this award and we still have a chance to vote for our lovely town.”
A surprise contender alongside Peebles in the public vote is Cumbernauld, regularly listed as one of the worst towns in Britain.
Others in the contest are Broughty Ferry, Dunkeld and Pitlochry in Tayside, East Kilbride in Lanarkshire and Linlithgow in West Lothian.
