ST RONAN’S Wells Support Group says visits to the historic Innerleithen site increased to more than 6,000 for 2011.

The committee thanked the Scottish Borders Council (SBC) museums services team who look after the wells and hosted exhibitions.

At the group’s AGM, chairman Scott Smellie expressed appreciation for SBC’s improvement work in the visitor centre and thanked Rosemary Hannay and Christine Melrose for their negotiating skills in getting the best possible job done.

Diane Bennett has been appointed garden volunteer co-ordinator and supervised the planting of a hedge and spring bulbs in November. The group looking for additional funding for the role.

The centre will a number of shows this year, presently Innerleithen Schooldays until June.

There was a coffee morning on Saturday and there’s a car boot sale on Sunday. The group will participate in Switched On Sunday in December.
