Pupils at St Peter’s primary school in Galashiels have been busy producing a poppy display to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, and in particular in remembrance of the soldiers who lost their lives in that conflict. Each child, from nursery to P7, has created a poppy – from handprints, to tissue paper art and stained glass effects – and on the back of each poppy the children have recorded the name of a person who lost his or her life in the First World War.

Many of the classes at St Peter’s have been researching the 1914-18 war as part of their social studies topics.
