A week-old today, the new filly foal at the Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary at St Boswells needs a name... So the charity, 10 years old this year, is holding a competition to decide on one for the miniature at its stand at the Border Union Show in Kelso next week – July 26 and 27.

The sanctuary is home to 76 donkeys and founder Rosemary Dale (pictured) says of the latest addition: “She’s adorable. She’s brown and she’s like a little Bambi, she’s got the sweetest face.”

Her mum, Rebekah, nine, came from Wales with another, 13-year-old Penelope, after their owner went blind and was no longer able to care for the miniature donkeys.
