Speed limits

NEW speed limits for two stretches of road connected with the construction of a Sainsbury’s supermarket at Kelso were approved last week by councillors.

Members of Scottish Borders Council’s Cheviot Area Committee – meeting in Crailing – agreed a recommendation from local authority transport officials that 40mph speed limits be introduced on sections of the A698 (Kelso to Hawick road) and B6352 (Station Road), at Kelso.

The move was as a result increased traffic, turning manoeuvres and non-motorised activity associated with the new superstore at Pinnaclehill and followed consultation with local councillors.

The Draft Traffic Regulation Order was advertised in January with no objections being received.
