SOLOISTS ON SONG FOR CHARITY

Equibuddy, a Greenlaw-based charity which provides the opportunity for young people, including those with additional needs, to enter the world of horse riding, was the beneficiary of an evening held in the reception rooms of Thirlestane Castle.

Two international operatic soloists – Ann Murray and Robin Leggate, pictured, whose careers have taken them to major opera houses worldwide, including the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden – entertained an audience of 120 to an evening of light-hearted song. They were accompanied at the piano by a colleague from Covent Garden, Mark Packwood. All three artistes gave their services in support of Equibuddy.

A champagne reception beforehand and a dinner afterwards was only made possible thanks to the hard work of a host of volunteers and sponsors from the Borders. All the food and drink was donated by local farms and sponsoring companies.
